Divi and me
Tania Melnyczuk

What is Divi?

Divi is a pagebuilding kit from Elegant Themes, installed in the form of a WordPress theme.

Divi and me

I started using Divi early in 2018, and in spite of many teething problems, I loved it all along. I now build all my new sites in Divi.

My code is sometimes a bit heavy: Divi allows a lot of WYSIWIG customisation right there on the page, and if you’re sloppy or in a hurry, you end up leaving things tweaked rather than moving your decisions to your CSS.

Also, mobile! Although Divi itself is fully responsive, it doesn’t do everything for you. For example, if you make some quick decisions about H1 font sizes for your desktop version, you may still want to do things differently for your other screen versions. (Don’t assume that all the automatic scaling will be insufficient.)

My Divi sites

Based on all this, all of my live Divi sites (including this blog) are in need of tweaks and cleanups, but I still think they’re a jolly side better than my non-Divi site, viz. ProjectManagement.co.za, built when I was a WordPress novice.

Here are some of them…

Marius Cloete Moulds is my favourite Divi site right now. In this post, I explain the changes I am working on behind the scenes.
