The dynamics of friendship are different from those of allegiance.

Friends are faithful to you, whereas allies are faithful to some mutual goal. Your allies may drop you in an instant if they no longer believe you’re a good means to their end. Your friends may oppose your cause.

Be cautious of allies who presume friendship too quickly. And don’t assume that every friend supports your cause. Thank God for friends, and be grateful for allies.

And if your cause is just and your goal is noble, appreciate how deeply you have been blessed if you have friends who are allies as well. Not every hero or prophet has had that privilege.
