Electrolyte dance partners

Electrolyte dysregulation plays a key role in sensory overload. Electrolytes behave as agonists and antagonists to one another, a bit like dance partners. These are some of the main electrolytes involved in being ‘sensorily OK’:
The cells are the dance halls. Outside are the streets.
Magnesium and potassium are lovers. They waltz with one another.
Sodium and calcium are lovers too. They salsa in the street.
Sodium and potassium are in a love-hate relationship; they tango wherever they meet.
